Closing its doors for good: Greenfield News & Hobby says goodbye to 50 years of memories

GREENFIELD (WITI) — It would have been 50 years this summer, but now Greenfield News & Hobby is closing its doors next Saturday. Through the crafts and hobbies filled there, the store’s local legacy will hopefully live on. “When I was a kid I did hobbies all the time, stick model airplanes, little cars,” said Dave Boenning, customer.

Pope’s Hobbyland Closes Business

One man’s love for model airplanes turned into an idea; that idea turned into a goal; and that goal was accomplished. “We liked model airplanes,” said Warren Pope, “we wanted to start a store and we did.” Pope is the owner and founder of Pope’s Hobbyland in Wausau.

PJ’s In Peckville Closing For Good

PECKVILLE — A business that’s been in Lackawanna County for about a half century is closing soon for good. PJ’s Home Center in Peckville notified customers this week it’s going out of business. The storefront at PJ’s Home Center on Sturges Road in Peckville is covered in ‘Going out of Business’ signs.

Marlowe’s Ace Hardware in Hampshire closing after 31 years

After 31 years of business and memories, the Marlowe family is closing its namesake Ace Hardware store in Hampshire, citing a need to retire. Owners Marge and Dean Marlowe, both 66, began a closeout sale Wednesday and expect the inventory to run out by mid-to-late November.
